Godswill Akpabio Scrabble Classics
The Nigeria Scrabble Federation invites you to the second Godswill Akpabio International Scrabble Classics starting from the 3rd of October 2008. Venue is the Le Meridien Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort Uyo. This year’s edition of the tournament will be in three categories; Master, Open and Veteran. Several international scrabble players are already in the country for the competition and many are being expected from neighboring African countries. They will battle on the scrabble board with top scrabble players based in Nigeria in the Master category. The scrabble tournament is a yearly competition sponsored by Governor Godswill Akpabio, the sports-loving Chief Executive of Akwa-Ibom State. This the final national competition before scrabble Team Nigeria depart Kenya to defend the Africa Scrabble Championship title (won twice by Dennis Ikekeregor).
The sum of five thousand U.S dollars ($5,000) will be presented to the winner of the Master category. Attractive cash prizes are spread across the three categories for the top ten positions (Master) and the top fifteen in the Opens category.
The tournament will be declared open on Friday 3rd of October by 5.00pm. at the Marina Bar, Le Meridien Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort. More details on this page
