National Collegiate Scrabble Championships
The Nigeria Scrabble Federation wish to announce the first National Collegiate Scrabble Championships taking place at University of Ilorin (Main Auditorium) Permanent Site on Saturday 19th September 2009. The championship is open to any Scrabble player (male/female) in a post-Secondary Institution. See details below. Top young players in this Championship will represent Nigeria at the World Youth Scrabble Championship later this year.
Eligibility
Any Scrabble player who is currently in a post-Secondary institution of learning, including Poly/Monotechnics, Colleges of Education, Universities e.t.c. Because the primary objective of the tournament is to discover youth Scrabble prodigies with little or no exposure in tournament Scrabble, eligibility does not include players who are pursuing higher degrees from these institutions e.g Master degrees. It also excludes players whose national rating is 1400 and over.
Requirements
Players must bring be able to provide the following at the tournament arena to be allowed to play:
- Name of School
- Birth Certificate or Sworn Declaration of Age
- School Identification card or it's equivalent
- Matriculation Number
Championship Format
You are expected to report for accreditation on Friday 18th of September at the venue. Accomodation will be provided free for participants by the University of Ilorin. You are to play eight (8) games on Saturday 19th of September starting from 8.am and the winner is the player with the most points and cummulative spread. First prize is (at the minimum) N50,000. This can be increased with more sponsorship.

- Sport coaches, school administrators or players may desire to make bulk tournament entry payments at the bank for their students or friends. However when completing the web registration you must indicate any additional entry by using the group registration field at the bottom of the online form.
