Anthony Ikolo wins Calabar Opens
It was indeed a small crowd but it was fun in the just concluded 2007 Calabar open held from June 30 to July 1st 2007, 48 players on the whole . At the end it was a big fight between the likes of the African Champion Dennis Ikekeregor, Ikolo Anthony , Jighere Wellington and Moses Peter who won the Opens in Ibadan in May. The final game was between Tony Ikolo and Moses Peter. Tony started with WON, Moses replied with SPY , then Tony played SHORTAGE, Moses answered with DOZES.
At the end Tony played a total of 4 premiums (bingos): CONNOTED, GROANED, and JUICIER, while Moses was able to play a single bingo STOITER. Ikolo won ten games out of twelve to win the Masters division. With this result Tony Ikolo has qualified to attend the WSC selection Tourney, holding in Abuja later in the month, with Moses Peter who won Ibadan 2007 Opens. Twelve games were played in the Masters/Intermediate and the Opens category.
